I’m so sad to report that a Secondhand Hounds volunteer/foster’s home burned down early this morning. They were currently fostering another Secondhand Hounds dog, which made it out ok. They lost everything. The entire house is destroyed, she is in the hospital, and her dog, Mia, died in the fire. You might remember sweet Mia from earlier this fall, the beautiful Rottweiler that I photographed as a surprise for her. Mia was a Secondhand Hound herself, and was very well loved by her forever family. I’ll always remember her gentle spirit.
If you’d like to help these wonderful people, Secondhand Hounds has set up an account to take donations, which you can find here. I’ll be donating the fees I received for Mia’s session, and if you’re able to give, please do. Another volunteer is accepting non-monetary donations on their behalf. If you can give food, clothing, etc, please contact Brittany Howard at bmorgan20@gmail.com.
**Update: You can also bring donations this Saturday to the Pet Smart in Eden Prairie during their adoption event from 11am-2pm.
You can also bring donations Saturday to Eden Prairie PetSmart – we’ll be running an impromptu donation drive during the adoption from 11-2pm. Thanks for posting this Sarah – and gorgeous photos.

Truly tragic event…I feel so privileged to have met and played with such a wonderful dog. I send all my love and warm thoughts to Cari, Elana, and Haley; so relieved they are okay. So happy to see such a strong support system for them.
Thank you for sharing the information Sarah…..Tragic
It is time we all pitch in!!! Sharon
That picture is so sweet – I have Mia’s daughter and they are like twins. It breaks my heart to think of their loss. <3
