In late September, little Oliver the Silky Terrier was diagnosed with Lymphoma. We had his Joy Session one week later, on a beautiful Friday afternoon at his favorite park. Just hours after they went home, Oliver let them know it was time, and they sadly let him go that same night. He had been with his new family for a little over a year. Oliver was only 3 years old.
Oliver was adorable, and obviously dearly loved. Our thoughts go out to his family, as I know they must be missing him very much. I’m sure these lovely photos of their boy are of great comfort to them.
Thanks for loving Oliver, he looks so happy!
Sweet photos, Sarah. You always have such great emotion in them. They will treasure these photos forever.
I am sure these photos are of great comfort to Oliver’s family. I became aware of your work because of my “affiliation” with Corgi Nation and your wonderful Joy Session of the much-loved Baxter Valentine.
Sadly, right now, there is another young Corgi with lyumphoma, who is a rescue like Oliver, and has only been with his family a year and a half or so. I wish he were closer to you so that you could create loving images of him with his “mom” to console her when he leaves us all too soon.
so very sad to hear of a dog lost so young. this story cuts deeply with me as i lost my very first scruffy at only 4 years of age to lymphoma, brought on by vaccinations. i learned a hard lesson from his loss and have spent the years since researching, educating, and seeking the guidance of only those vets who are truly aware of the dangers of vaccinations and improper nutrition through a lot of commercial foods.
i hope Oliver’s family finds comfort in your images, Sarah.
Oh my I am crying my eyes out. When I first looked at the pics I thought how cute is this little bugger. When I read the post I lost it. That is so sad. RIP Oliver. I bet you were a great dog and now a great angel for your family. Your pics will remind Oliver’s parents how special a bond between a pet and pet parent is. As you can tell I love doggies and my Layla is my heart.
So, so sad… Oliver was gorgeous and clearly very loved. How heartbreaking to lose him at such a young age. I’m so happy they made portraits a priority. Oliver’s parents will treasure these images forever, Sarah.
What an adorable dog! He looks so full of energy and I’m sure he loved his family as much as he was loved. Just brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for capturing such wonderful moments for these families :)
That middle photo is stunning. Oliver obviously made a big impact in their lives if they loved him that much after just one year! I’m so happy you do these joy sessions, Sarah. I imagine they are exhausting mentally sometimes, but you’re doing a good thing for so many people! Keep up the good work and I keep all these dogs in my prayers!
That’s my Ollie!!!
I love that Kelly called him a “little bugger” haha, as I know I called him that often, too! He was chock-full of energy and personality, let me tell ya! Gates nor heights nor busy streets could deter him from finding trouble or adventure! :) Even at the dog park, he was becoming known for being the “referee” of any doggie scuffles, by running around the scuffle in circles barking like he was some big, tough pup!
All your comments are so very appreciated and heart-warming. I’m tearing up like crazy over here. It’s been almost exactly one year since our little buddy left us, and we still miss him very, very much and think of him often.
Sarah, your stunning photos are always a touching reminder to us of how lucky we were to have our stubborn little hairy man in our lives, even for just over a year! Thank you again!
