The Rescue of the Month for June is once again my friends at the Minnesota chapter of Greyhound Pets of America (GPA). Founded in 1987, GPA in an all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming retired racing Greyhounds. In their foster homes, the hounds can acclimate to their new lives, be tested for cats or other dogs, and personalities can be assessed so the group can make the best possible match with their forever families.
GPA’s biggest event of the year is tomorrow, Saturday, June 8th, at the MN State Fairgrounds. You don’t need a Greyhound to attend this fun, free event; everyone is welcome to partake in the raffle, get some grub at the Rusty Taco food truck, check out the vendors, and watch events like Speed Alley and Musical Squares.
There’s a ton of great information on GPA’s website about Greyhounds in general, upcoming events, and how you can donate, volunteer or adopt.
Sweet Potato came into the studio for some photos, and she really couldn’t have been sweeter. She’s petite, brindle, gentle and loving. She doesn’t get up on the furniture, is learning how to play with toys, and just wants to be with her humans. She was a racer, then used for breeding, and is now ready to settle into retirement. If you or someone you know wants a great little hound, Sweet Potato might be for you!
Just look at this endearing face!Be sure to “like” Greyhound Pets of America – MN on Facebook to stay up to date with events, adoptions, and lots of other goings-on.
