Hubert is big. Standing tall at 17 hands, he was a show horse and a jumper. He’s recently been having some foot troubles and is being retired to a lovely farm in Illinois. His mom wanted me to come out for some photos to remember him by, and I was very happy to oblige.
I don’t get the chance to shoot horses very often, but I always love it when I do. I grew up with them, did a lot of riding, even had my own boy named Rocky. (He was the laziest horse in the world) I’ve been kicked, stepped on, bucked off, but was never afraid. There’s something magical about these giant creatures, and I hope I captured a bit of that with handsome Hubert.
