wags and whiskers :: july rescue of the month

Wags and Whiskers is our Giving Back July Rescue of the Month! Wags is a small, no-kill, foster-based rescue. They’re dedicated to finding homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered animals in high-kill shelters. They are advocates for Pit Bulls and have a listing of some great educational resources on their website. There is a continual need for foster homes; since they don’t have a physical facility, the only way they can rescue more animals is if there’s a foster to take them. For more information on fostering, donating or adopting from Wags and Whiskers, check them out on their website, blog or Facebook.

Petie is a super sweet boy who has been with Wags and Whiskers for two years. TWO YEARS people! I can’t believe it…. he came in as a puppy and has been with the same foster family since. I met him this morning and he’s quiet, a nice small size, walks great in his harness, knows commands and takes treats very gently from your hand. Plus he’s handsome as all get-out. He does have Addison’s disease, but is capable of living a perfectly normal, long life with a monthly medication. It’s ridiculous that this great guy hasn’t found a forever home yet, so spread the word and let’s get him adopted!

These two gorgeous cats are named Dreams and Wishes but their fosters just call them Chunky and Skinny. They need to be adopted together, as they do much better as a unit than individually, so Wags and Whiskers is offering a reduced-price adoption fee for both. Chunky (who’s really not fat, just bigger than Skinny) is a friendly girl who likes treats and getting pets. Skinny is super cute and needs some time to get to know you. She’s a bit of a scaredy-cat,and hers was my first studio shoot that took place underneath a desk…. but I know my Simon would act the exact same way if I put him in a crate and took him to a new place with strangers and flashing lights, so I don’t really blame her  :)
