angel of hope :: december pet rescue of the month

Our December Rescue of the Month is the small-but-mighty Angel of Hope Cat Rescue. {and what a fitting name for this time of year!} I’m a cat person at heart, and I like to remind people {including myself} that sometimes they need even more help than their more popular canine counterparts.

Angel of Hope was started in the 1980’s by one woman in Sandstone, MN, and their foster program here in the Twin Cities began in 2006. They are no-kill (meaning they don’t put down animals to make room for more) and they are completely foster-based, with no physical shelter. They can only save as many cats as there are available homes, and are always looking for more fosters. The rescue provides all the vet care, and some food or litter if it’s available and needed. They hold adoption events at the Maplewood Petco twice a month, or you can arrange to meet a cat at your home or the foster’s home. They have almost 60 available cats right now, so if you’re looking for a fuzzy new companion, do check them out on Petfinder and see if any of their wonderful kitties are a good match for you!

I met two lovely ladies this weekend, who could use a little extra help finding their forever homes. First up is Willow. I cannot believe this girl has been with Angel of Hope for THREE years. She’s sweet, quiet, friendly, only 5 years old and a very pretty Tortie color with little orange paws. She likes being brushed and petted, and sitting on your lap {that’s more than I can say for my own cats!} I don’t know why she keeps getting overlooked, but hopefully some fresh new photos will help her out…

Little Piper came to Angel of Hope with a complicated pregnancy and they almost lost her. After a week of intensive care, she bounced back and is now an affectionate, cuddly girl, ready for a home! She’s so cute, with her big green eyes and black spot on her chin.

If you’re interested in helping out Angel of Hope this Holiday Season, maybe pick up an extra bag of litter while you’re out shopping, or check out their website to make a tax-deductible donation. Keep up to date with new kitties and happenings on their Facebook page (looks like there’s a Groupon opportunity to help them out coming up in January!)
