Baxter was one special Corgi. At only four and a half years old, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and 4-8 weeks to live. We photographed his session at Folwell Park in Minneapolis, his favorite stomping grounds. It was a beautiful evening, and it was hard to take a “bad photo” of that handsome boy. Upon hearing of his situation, the local organization, Corgi Pals, soon rallied the Corgi-loving troops. There was an incredible outpouring of love and support, and they were able to raise $8,000 to pay for Baxter’s chemo treatments in full. Sadly, just two days after that goal was met, this sweet little guy lost his brave battle.
They’ve since set up the Baxter Valentine Fund to raise money for other Corgis with cancer. Baxter’s story clearly touched a lot of people all over the country. To date they’ve raised over $23,000 and helped 16 Corgis. Through March 20th, they’re holding a “Drive for Five,” to raise $5,000 toward this fund.
